Since this machine is based off a third party chipset the ATI Radeon Xpressthe utility that Intel provides will not work with the machine.

Use of the Software in conjunction with non-Intel motherboard products is not licensed hereunder. I ended up reloading XP and loading the chipset and audio at the same time, and it worked.
The Software may include portions offered on terms in addition to those set out here, as set out in a license accompanying motheroard portions. If the Software has been delivered by Intel on physical media, Intel warrants the media to be free from material physical defects for a period of ninety 90 days after delivery by Intel. But still doesn't work. I had a lot of trouble with the audio driver, and none of the updated drivers from Intel worked either.
How long have you had your setup? May help you rule out codecs problems.

After installing inttel update, the audio drivers for Windows XP Bit Edition will successfully install. Your personal information will be used to respond to this inquiry only. I motherbosrd install the chipset drivers, and the audio drivers, and graphic drivers from the Intel site. This Software is licensed for use only in conjunction with Intel motherboard products. Something was apparently wrong with the sequence of loading the audio and the chipset drivers, I think.
